Both CoolPeel and Tetra are fractional CO2 laser treatments delivered through the Sciton platform — but they differ in depth and intensity. CoolPeel targets the superficial layer of the skin for meaningful improvement with less downtime, while Tetra delivers a deeper, more aggressive resurfacing for patients with more significant concerns like acne scarring, deeper wrinkles, or advanced sun damage. During your consultation, we will recommend the most appropriate option based on your skin and your goals.

Ablative lasers, like our Tetra CO2, work by removing the outer layer of the skin to trigger a deeper healing and regenerative response — delivering more significant results but requiring more downtime. Non-ablative lasers work beneath the skin’s surface without removing tissue, stimulating collagen with little to no downtime but more gradual results.

CoolPeel is a fractional ablative treatment that bridges the gap between the two — delivering the collagen-stimulating benefits of an ablative CO2 laser with less downtime than traditional full-field resurfacing. During your consultation, Cristina will help you determine which approach is most appropriate for your skin, your concerns, and your lifestyle.

Patients should plan for a minimum of five to seven days of downtime following CO2 laser treatment. During this time you can expect redness, swelling, and peeling as the skin heals and regenerates. Deeper Tetra treatments may require additional recovery time. Cristina will give you a realistic expectation of your specific downtime at your consultation based on the protocol selected for your skin.

CoolPeel and Tetra are used to treat sun damage, hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, uneven skin tone and texture, enlarged pores, and skin laxity. They can be performed on the face, neck, and chest.

 This depends entirely on your skin concerns and goals. Some patients achieve their desired results in a single Tetra treatment, while others benefit from a series of at least three CoolPeel sessions spaced several weeks apart. We will design a personalized treatment plan at your consultation.

CO2 laser is most appropriate for lighter skin tones. During your consultation, we will assess your skin type and determine whether CoolPeel or Tetra is a safe and suitable option for you — or whether an alternative treatment would better serve your skin.

Cristina will provide you with detailed pre-treatment instructions at your consultation. Generally, patients are advised to avoid sun exposure, retinol, and certain skincare actives in the weeks leading up to treatment. Arriving with well-hydrated, protected skin gives you the best foundation for healing and results

Initial results become visible once the skin has fully healed — typically within seven to fourteen days. Deeper improvements in skin quality, texture, and tone continue to develop over the following three to six months as new collagen forms and the skin continues to remodel.
